Well, I made it home safely. I have so much to talk about but nothing to say. It is overwhelming being back I don’t know what to do now. How do I get back into normal life?
anyway, thanks for praying for us and thank you for your support. Since I didn’t put too many awesome stories on here you will have to ask me stuff when you see me. I hope you will have time to listen.

so the jungle was awesome. we stayed in tents inside the school which was cool but it felt a little like being in a zoo because all the kids watched our every move through the windows. even if we were just sitting and talkingor just sitting, they wanted to watch. and the wouldn´t talk to us much just watch. but it was cool. the first night we had a meeting and 4 people gave their lives to christ andthen before we left we had a baptism service and 6 people were baptized. It was awesome.
I am in Lima for the next few days. We are going to visit an orphanage, go to church, help in a translator class, and things like that while we are here as well as some touristy things like this water fountain park and the Inca market to buy souveniers. then e our plane leaves late tuesday night and I will be back wednesday.

I am in Iquitos right now and I will be getting on a boat in the morning to go down the Amazon river to get to the village in the jungle where I will spend the next 5 days. Our group will be discipling new christians in the area. Please pray for us and our own relationships with God and for our spanish abilities. We will have translators but it is easier if you can speak to someone directly.

Also, pray for the other group they will be telling Bible stories in a village where the primary language is not spanish. They may have to have 2 translators depending on how many people speak spanish in the town. These stories will help them to learn scripture. this is an oral culture that tells stories at night because there is no lights to read by at night and nothing else to do for entertainment.

thirdly, pray for my friend/teammate Rhianna. She is flying home tomorrow. Nothing is wrong it is just her scheduled time to go home. but pray for her travels as she travels alone. She has been in Peru 2 months and is ready to go home.

Oh and one more. Please pray for my cousin. He was hiking from California to Washington (or something like that) to raise money to build a well in another country where they need fresh water. Last week sometime he broke his knee and is currently unable to continue the hike. Please pray for Caleb and his two friends as they deal with this obstacle.

So i am in Lima and we have internet and hot showers and starbucks. I had half a pizza hut pizza and a starbucks frap for lunch today and it was amazing! I also had a hot shower, my first shower of anysort in 10 days last night and slept in a super comfy bed.
tonight we are having a cookout to celebrate the 4th of July at one of the missionary´s house and then we are going to see a movie tonight. Church tomorrow morning in ENGLISH and then we leave to go to the airport at 2 monday morning to fly to Iquitos (the jungle) when we get there we will get on a boat and float down the amazon until we get to where we are going to stay. after five days we awill come back to lima and hopefully we will be able to visit an orphanage. pretty excited! thanks for the prayers! please comment!

halfway

Well I have made it to the halfway mark. We are in the big city of Huaraz today to meet with the other half of our group ¨Team Recuay¨and with one of the IMB missionaries from Lima, Jeff. This is exciteing because not only do we get to see how the other team is faring we also get to get a hot shower, use the internet, get american food, and wash our clothes. I didn´t know i would miss pìzza this much. Not that peruvian food is all that bad I just get tired of potatoes (they eat those alot since there are over 3000 different varieties here). Cui isn´t too bad it kinda taste like turkey (that´s right not chiken) if you don´t know what that is it is guinea pig, btw. there are so many stories to put on here but i can´t do them all a d the two minute warning just came up on the interent thing so i guess i will tell them when i get back. It is taking time to get used to the latin american way of doing things. ¨we are starting at 9:00¨ means that there is a problem if it isn´t started by 11. The buses the schools, everything is like that. I guess it is good not to be in a hurry but it is annoying when you are trying to plan things.
Anyway in bigger news we moved from Aija to La Merced because that is where the Peruvian missionary lives and the places he wants us to go are closer to la Merced than Aija. We don´t have internet there and there isn´t a toilet either but we have beds to sleep on and a roof over our heads and even a floor beneath our feet so it works! There also isn´t hot water so we are going back and forth once a week to Aija to shower and use internet.
In short, I won´t be updating this thing more often than once a week probably. But I will try to stay in touch.
We are coming up soon on the half way mark which is exciting. There is no evangelical church where we are or in any of the surrounding towns just one family of believers that wer have been working with and getting to know better. So pray for the people here. The catholic priest has done some things to try to stop us and has kept us from visiting the high school but he can´t keep us from talking to people at the school soccer games so pray for that situation too. Also pray for sleep, several of us have had trouble sleeping on the beds we have and with as much walking as we are doing (one town is more than a hour walk uphill) we need the rest but are having trouble getting it.

We have arrived in Aija where five of us will spend the next 23 days. I am super excited! after that we return to Lima to prepare for the jungle! I am excited to find the christians in this city and start Bible studies. This should be interesting. Thanks all for your prayers!

training and prayer requests

So far we have just been training and preparing.

Our team of 9 will soon be split into 2 teams and on sunday we will leave for the villages. I am excited.

Today we learned how to used the cooking kits that we will have to use when we get to our assignments. We had to make chicken, rice, carrots from scratch and mashed potatoes from scratch. it was cool we work well as a team.

I also just found out today that my brother was taken to the hospital with a very high blood sugar. I don´t know what that means exactly but I know he needs prayer. As for me, please pray that I will be more brave with speaking spanish.

24 hours and counting

I am leaving in about 4 hours to drive to Atlanta to get on a plane and fly to Newark, NJ to fly to Lima Peru!!!!! It will be a LOOOOOOONG day of traveling but I am sure it will be completely.

I want you all to know that God answers prayers. Yes, I am still $600 short of what I was supposed to have (yesterday I was more than $1000 short) but my field supervisor seems to think I will be just fine with what I have. I don’t know if I will have to come home a week early, thus missing the trip to the jungle, but even so 5 weeks will be awesome and if that happens I will be home in time for Kidfuge and VBS. so there is a bright side to even that.
